Well folks, I couldn’t stare at that fuzzy mess any longer. I frogged the Rainbow Baby Cardigan, and I enjoyed doing it. Life is too short to knit with bad yarn. I have no idea what I’ll do with the Chroma in my stash, but I can tell you this – it will not be used to make ANY baby things.
Now that that’s out of the way, I had to start something new.
I’m making a little dress for Baby #2! I’m using bigger yarn and bigger needles than specified in the pattern, so I’m hoping the dress turns out a little big. I want her to be able to get more than 2 weeks’ use out of it.
Here’s a close-up of the yarn I’m using:
It’s Debbie Bliss Bella, which is 85% cotton, 10% silk, and 5% cashmere. This yarn is so much nicer than what I’m accustomed to using. I bought it today while visiting a LYS (local yarn store) in Mt. Holly. Today’s trip marked my second time visiting a LYS, so it was kind of a big deal. 🙂 (I’ll probably write a post about my yarn store adventure tomorrow.)
This pattern doesn’t look too complicated, so I’m hoping it goes quickly. I have tons of stuff to finish before May arrives!

You shopped at a LYS?! How exciting! I have 3 or 4 near me up here, but I’ve only visited one of them (The Wooly Monmouth in Red Bank). I couldn’t bring myself to buy anything, though. Maybe one day I’ll suck it up and splurge on some pretty yarn. 🙂
Looking forward to progress pictures of the dress! If my next little one is a girl, I was contemplating making a dress. I guess I’ll find out in 10 or 12 weeks if I should cast on for a sweater or a frilly frock. 🙂

Oh yes, I totally shopped at a LYS. You’re so lucky to have some near you! It’s definitely not something I could make a habit of, but it’s nice to go once every few years (lol) and splurge. It’s pretty much the only way I can introduce myself to yarns that aren’t included on my “safe list.”
I could have easily spent another hour browsing, but Eva definitely wouldn’t have been a fan of that plan. She wanted to run around so bad, but I just couldn’t make selections AND run interference on her hands. I let her run around the quilting shop we visited before the yarn store. It’s a whole lot harder (and more obvious) to pull out a bolt of fabric than it is to snatch a skein of yarn!
