Yesterday I finished Eva’s Gnome Hat, and boy am I glad I did. I’ll think twice next time before starting another sock yarn hat. 😉
I did a few things differently than instructed in the pattern. I cast on 125 stitches and used 3.0mm needles since Eva is not a preemie – 3 month old. I also knit the hat to 5.5 inches before starting the decreases. The whole thing measures just over 8 inches in length.
Once again, if you’re interested in making this hat, the pattern can be found for free on Ravelry. It’s called Incredible Expanding Gnome Cap. The hat you see here was knit with Knit Picks Felici in “Mixed Berries.” I used about half a skein – maybe a little more. There’s still plenty left to knit Eva a pair of socks to match her hat, if I so choose. 🙂
