Autumn Baby Sweater – Second Progress Report

This is probably the fastest project you’ll ever hear about from me!  I’m down to the fifth button hole, and I managed to get there with just one 150 yd skein of yarn!  I have 5 more rows on the body to complete, then all that’s left is the sleeves!

What you see is the amount of progress I was able to make with one skein.  I’ll have more than a skein and a half left over when I am finished.  What shall I use it for?  A hat?  Another sweater?

Little Pine Tree Cardigan – Complete!

Earlier in the week I finished my Little Pine Tree Cardigan.  The knitting was easy, and if you don’t take month long breaks from knitting like I do, the sweater could conceivably be finished in less than a week’s time.

I knit this cardi on size 6 and 7 needles using Knit Picks’ Simply Cotton Worsted in Envy Heather and Limeade Heather.  The buttons are small yellow flowers with white centers.  As I mentioned before, this sweater is MUCH too big for a 0-3 month old.  If I had to guess, and I shouldn’t because I’m a poor judge of size, I’d say this sweater is probably likely to fit a 9-12 month old.

Nevertheless, the pattern is really cute, and I love the result.  I may try knitting another one with dk or sportweight yarn on smaller needles, that is, if I ever become motivated enough to knit another one.  🙂

Autumn Baby Sweater – First Progress Report

I finished my Little Pine Tree Cardigan a couple of days ago.  Well, aside from the buttons.  I wet blocked the finished piece, and the stupid thing still isn’t dry!  Once I sew the buttons on, I’ll post pictures and deets.  🙂

Because the Little Pine Tree Cardigan came out huge, I decided to try knitting another (smaller) cardigan.  I’m using a very basic pattern I found on Ravelry and some absolutely beautiful Manos del Uruguay yarn.  The yarn is a kettle dyed silk/merino blend, probably isn’t baby-friendly, and my guess is it’ll pill like a mofo.  It’s very nice to touch, though.  I picked it up from Rosie’s Yarn Cellar in Center City, Philadelphia on a whim.  The colorway, 3104, reminds me of autumn, and since I’m having an autumn baby, I deemed it a must-have.

So far I am pleased to report that the sweater is turning out much smaller than the previous one.  It will definitely fit a newborn.

Little Pine Tree Cardigan – Second Update

I know it’s been a while, but I haven’t had any progress to report until now.  I’ve been working on my striped baby cardi, and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I just have to finish up the sleeves and knit the button bands.  I can’t wait to pick out buttons!

The pattern is written for a short sleeved cardi, but since the baby is due Nov 1st, this cardi will be worn during the winter and will require long sleeves.  I’ve knit this pattern before, and I know from experience that the sizes run big.  I used smaller needles to try to shrink it a bit.  I may end up throwing it in the dryer if need be.

Anyway, without further ado, here’s a picture of my almost complete Little Pine Tree Cardigan:
